just landed in Melbourne to the news that our Roman Dirge was struck by a hit & run driver last night~ he is in hospital and we are waiting to hear more.
Am sure there will be ways to help him, I am just sick about this, being so far away.

So making friendship bracelets is super freaking hard. Sometimes I wish I paid more attention when I was younger to the simple stupid things I cannot figure out now, like braiding hair, friendship bracelets, why girls spend so much time in the bathroom (what am I missing?!), and how to apply makeup correctly. This feels like another womanly crisis.

Girl Scouts taught me nothing but take chances. True story, jumped into the pool at Hearst Castle, got kicked out.
New year, new start.
This year was an interesting year. I lost my great grandma (101 years young), got married, went to Japan, made new friends, seen friends I haven’t seen in years, had a family reunion with both sides of my family, had some medical issues (that turned out not to be horrible ailments), went from a tight size 10 to a size 6, graduated college, finished a screenplay, moved into a cute little place by the beach, got a new car, and helped celebrate my grandma’s 70th birthday.
Lots of ups, lots of downs, I had my quarter life crisis several times already but I feel like 2013 will be a hell of a year. I don’t do resolutions, I end up breaking them anyways. I try to achieve goals, this year will be different, this year I feel like I have the freedom to do whatever I want on my own time.
2013 will be epic. Mark my words.

When I walked into my local Barnes and Noble on Friday, I walked into this. I had just gotten over Borders closing,

…and now I walk into this. I wasn’t sure what to do. I walked around aimlessly, forgetting why I was really there (screw you Christmas shopping) and was at a complete loss for words.
I overheard cashiers and customers talking, “yea we’re closing”, “we have until the 31st”… Absolute no words. 2012 is indeed the end of the world. No bookstores = end of existence.
I refuse to strictly read on my phone or tablet because technology is killing the bookstore. I love technology, however, I believe in books. I believe kids should experience books, away from distraction, to fully dive into a book and live in it for at least an hour a day. Libraries are playgrounds, which should be raided frequently. You just can’t concentrate on an illuminated screen.
After finding a gift for my brother, I went to check out, trying to find my voice.
“So, that’s it huh? No more bookstores.”
“Oh no, just us, they’re combining the malls.”
THANK GOD.
I skipped merrily out my way, knowing I can buy tons of books in the next few weeks on discount, but also relieved I didn’t have to move countries.
I like doing laundry by myself sometimes (I have to go to a local laundromat). No one talks to you, the only noises are the rumblings of the machines and quarters dropping and when you watch your laundry being tossed around, you get to find the most interesting things (see picture, I shed too much).

Moving into a non-apartment building type of place gave me hope for Halloween. Tons of trick or treaters, handing out FULL SIZED BARS, being dressed up myself, but no. No kids. It’s only 7:30 but still. I would go out at dusk and keep going until 9pm! And yes, I would be the evil mom to make them stay out forever, no matter how tired they are.
These kids are slacking and don’t know what they’re missing out on. They have a Finn and Fionna dying to hand out candy! I guess I’ll just fall asleep on the couch.
At least my outfit is badass.

As a person who has lived in the valley, currently reside in Santa Monica, and groomed to be scared shitless of Compton, I approve and endorse these gifs.
